I love The Guardian’s weekly Book Clinic series and the idea of books as medicine.

This week, an anonymous mother asked for book recommendations for her teenage son. Peter Swanson recommended The Shining Girls (“If he’d like something a little edgier”), as well as Donna Tartt’s The Secret History, everything by Stephen King (natch), and Bonecrack by Dick Francis.

Thanks to Instagrammer @ab_reads for the gorgeous photo of The Shining Girls in good company and that great mug.
