Tis the season for top tens, end-of-year round-ups, and the like, and SciFi Now put together this list of 28 they think you should have read this year. I’m honoured that they included Slipping (my short story and non-fiction collection), rubbing shoulders with books by Namoni Alderman, Stephen Baxter and Alastair Reynolds, and Becky Chambers, among others.

Jonathan Hatfull writes:

If you, like us, love Lauren Beukes’ novels MoxylandZoo City, The Shining Girls and Broken Monsters, then you probably don’t need a particularly strong nudge to go out and buy her collection of short stories and essays. The format allows the author to dip in and out of genres (horror, SF, relationship drama) and Slipping demonstrates that she can create a compelling, complex world in just a few pages.
