About the Authors:

Adrian Tchaikovsky – Adrian was born in Lincolnshire and studied zoology and psychology at Reading before becoming a professional author in 2007. He is a keen role-player and board gamer and is trained in stage-fighting. Adrian primarily explores deep themes, such as artificial intelligence and alien awareness within epic galactic and fantastical settings. He has a deep interest in the animal world specifically insects from his studies in Zoology and has a particular penchant for spiders. His latest book Alien Clay is a thrilling far-future adventure: On the distant world of Kiln lie the ruins of an alien civilization. It’s the greatest discovery in humanity’s spacefaring history – yet who were its builders and where did they go? Professor Arton Daghdev had always wanted to study alien life up close. Then his wishes become a reality in the worst way. His political activism sees him exiled from Earth to Kiln’s extrasolar labour camp. There, he’s condemned to work under an alien sky until he dies. Kiln boasts a ravenous, chaotic ecosystem like nothing seen on Earth. The monstrous alien life interacts in surprising, sometimes shocking ways with the human body, so Arton will risk death on a daily basis. However, the camp’s oppressive regime might just kill him first. If Arton can somehow escape both fates, the world of Kiln holds a wondrous, terrible secret. It will redefine life and intelligence as he knows it, and might just set him free…

Lucy Holland – A writer living in south-west England on the red shores of the Jurassic Coast; a beautiful, mysterious part of the country, steeped in myth and folklore. The perfect place in which to make up stories. In the vein of most writers, Lucy has been making up stories for a long time. Despite attending theatre school for six years, books were her first love. Her latest book Song Of The Huntress takes place in Britain, 60 AD. Hoping to save her lover and her land from the Romans, Herla makes a desperate pact with the Otherworld King. She becomes Lord of the Hunt and for centuries she rides, reaping wanderers’ souls. Until the night she meets a Saxon queen with ice-blue eyes. Queen Æthelburg of Wessex is a proven fighter, but after a battlefield defeat she finds her husband’s court turning against her. Yet King Ine needs Æthel more than ever: the dead kings of Wessex are waking, and Ine must master his bloodline’s ancient magic if they are to survive. When their paths cross, Herla knows it’s no coincidence. Something dark and dangerous is at work in the Wessex court. As she and Æthel grow closer, Herla must find her humanity – and a way to break the curse – before it’s too late…

Lauren Beukes – The award-winning author of six novels, a collection of short stories, a pop history about South African women, and New York Times best-selling comics. Her work has been translated into 26 languages and won prizes across genres from the Arthur C Clarke Award to the Strand Critic’s Choice award and the University of Johannesburg Prize. Her novel, The Shining Girls, is now a major AppleTV series with Elisabeth Moss. She lives in London with a teenager and two cats. Her latest novel, Bridge, is a high-concept page-turner: Bridge’s maverick scientist mother Jo is dead. Now she’s examining everything Jo left behind. Which is when she finds her big secret. Is it a drug? A gateway to other worlds? Jo believed so. Bridge is desperate to see her mother again. Will do anything, risk anything. Including search for her in those other realities. What she doesn’t know is that others are after Jo’s secret. And some believe anyone it touches must be destroyed. Bridge? She just wants to find her mom…

Justin Lee Anderson – Justin was a professional writer and editor for 15 years before his debut novel, Carpet Diem, was published in 2015. Justin now writes full-time and is a partner in his own publishing company. He also writes scripts with his wife Juliet, who he met through the BBC Last Laugh scriptwriting competition. His new fantasy series starts with The Lost War: The war is over but peace can be hell. Demons continue to burn farmlands, violent mercenaries roam the wilds and a plague is spreading. The country of Eidyn is on its knees. In a society that fears and shuns him, Aranok is the first mage to be named king’s envoy. And his latest task is to restore and exiled foreign queen to her throne. The band of allies he assembles each have their own unique skills. But they are strangers to one another, and at every step across the ravaged land, a new threat emerges, lies are revealed and distrust could destroy everything they are working for. Somehow, Aranok must bring his companions together and uncover the conspiracy that threatens the kingdom – before war returns to the realms again…
